Public announcement: Fireworks

Please be aware that is illegal to set off fireworks on a street or any other public place in Scotland. It is against the law to throw or set off fireworks, including sparklers, in streets, PUBLIC PARKS, or roads.

Following a major disruptive incident late on bonfire night last year, Friends of Newlands Park, our local councillors and our MP have raised the concerns of local people with the police. As a result of our communications, the police have now confirmed that Newlands Park has been highlighted as a hot-spot requiring additional attention. This means police resources will be paying attention to the area on the days around the 5th November. If you see anything of concern, please do not intervene but contact the police immediately (call 999).
