Friends of Newlands Park relies on donations and grants to fund its development plan that will benefit all users of the park. Join us and help—by donating £10 or whatever you can.

With donations so far, we have purchased new azaleas, clematis, jasmine, vinca minor, pachysandra, for the rockery, the pergola behind the pond, other plant beds and the entrances. We have also purchased new gardening tools for our wonderful gardening volunteers and a lockup shed* for tool storage.

*Unfortunately our shed was destroyed by Storm Isha in Jan 2024, so we are currently looking to purchase a much more robust shed to store our gear. We would welcome donations for this, as well as to purchase more roses for the big rose beds, which are in need of some TLC.

Grants awarded

A major fundraising success has been a £146,000 grant from the UK Government and LTA Tennis Foundation’s Park Tennis Project which enabled a major refurbishment, including replacement of the blaes with hard courts, restoration of the fourth court, a new fence and security gate.

We are also grateful to have received other grants for the park’s development plan from from Glasgow City Council, The Mushroom Trust, Registers of Scotland, the St. Nicholas Care Fund, and trees from Glasgow Treelovers Society.
