The Newlands Park summer fête is back!!!!

Following the success of last year’s event, we are excited to announce that this year’s fête will be taking place on he afternoon of Saturday 2nd September from 2pm – 4pm.
We are delighted that so many of the groups who participated last year will be joining us again, and there will be exhibitors/activities that are new for 2023!
Events will include storytelling and creative activities from The Village Storytelling Centre, ideal for the little ones. We’ll also have a number of conservation and wildlife stalls and activities with Froglife, Butterfly Conservation and Scottish Badgers.
There’ll also be the chance to try out some traditional musical instruments – maybe you’ll discover a new talent?!?
If you’ve not had chance to try the fabulous new tennis courts yet, the Newlands Park Community Tennis Centre will be hosting free tennis coaching sessions – no experience necessary, just come along and have a go!
The 29th Scouts will be running the catering stall again, providing a selection of hot and cold refreshments.
New this year, the 46th Guides will be face-painting, so you can channel your inner superhero or turn your little monkey into a …little monkey?
If you’re after a bit of retail therapy, there will be stalls raising funds for Guide Dogs, St Margaret’s Church and the Beatson. Other stalls will feature Fairtrade produce and a book swap and the Guides will be running the ever popular Tombola stall again.
We are delighted that the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service are planning to attend the fête again this year. Not surprisingly, they were a huge hit last year; after all how often do you get the chance to sit in a fire engine?
We hope to see you there!
**We are looking for volunteers to help on the day, so if you are interested, please email volunteer@friendsofnewlandspark.org and join us in making the afternoon a success.**
Volunteer tasks will include helping with setting up stalls, directing visitors to different activities during the event and clearing up at the end.
